Ville
de Vouvray
Indre et Loire - 37
Centre
The small town of Vouvray is located on the boards of the river Cisse, in the heart of the Loire Valley's Castles, between the
towns of Tours and Amboise. Vouvrayis well known for the white chenin blanc wines, widely appreciated around the world.
Vouvray is also home for the Hardouin's butcher's shop, known all over France for some of it's specialties like Rillons, Rillettes and Andouillette.
The wine production's traditions are well guarded and the wines are still aged in typical troglodyte caves of the region. The
Cave des Producteurs,
an association of wine producers of the AOC Vouvray has magnificent 2 kilometer long troglodyte caves that are worth visiting. All those caves are
drilled in the Tuffaut, a soft rock which is also used to built the castles.
